CFD codes list: How it started?

From: plewa@sirius.astrouw.edu.pl (Tomasz Plewa) Newsgroups: sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics Subject: CFD codes list (Re: Search CFD-code) Date: 10 Jun 1994 14:13:54 GMT Message-ID: <2t9sf2$c0u@bilbo.nask.org.pl> CFD codes list (similar to Robert Chong's CFD Books list) I will post this list irregularly (each two weeks). Note, that I didn't check most of the information contained in the list. I suggest to include this list in FAQ of this group (BTW: is there any FAQ)? My own code is #07. Grab, use, ask, and enjoy. 01------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: 177 of sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics Subject: UIFlow and Post3D From: hilson@pde1.mtv.gtegsc.com (Richard Hilson) Date: 29 Apr 94 12:23:14 -0800 I got a copy of the 2D CFD code *UIFlow* from NCSA for the Mac. It seems to work For those who are interested, UIFlow can be found in ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu (141.142.20.50) in the file /mac/uiflow. 02------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: 193 of sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics Subject: Airfoil Program for Mac Available From: rbl@hal.cwru.edu (Robin B. Lake) Date: 3 May 1994 00:34:46 GMT I happened across a program in the info-mac archives at sumex-aim.stanford.edu today. To my surprise, it turns out to be: "This is the ReadMe file for Foil 1.0.2, a Macintosh airfoil generation and display program. Foil 1.0.2 is System 6/7 happy, meaning it should run equally well under both systems. Foil is free, but not public domain. I retain all rights, and it may not be distributed in modified form, or without any of the files. Since it's free, please read the file "A Note About the Author". 03------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: 232 of sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics From: hulburt@leland.Stanford.EDU (Greg Payne) Subject: How to calculate NACA 4- and 5-digit sections<-Here it is! Date: Sat, 7 May 1994 04:37:33 GMT 04------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: 348 of sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics From: Nils.R.Olsen@nhl.sintef.no Subject: Re: Public Domain CFD codes? Date: 25 May 1994 06:07:00 GMT The SSIIM model is a freeware program (without source code) that solves the 3D Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal grid with the k-epsilon model. The pre and post processor is made for river engineering, so using the model for simulation of flow around rockets may not be possible. SSIIM can be downloaded from hobbes.cdrom.com, in directory pub/os2/2_x/educate. 05------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: 380 of sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics From: Zlatko.Rek@ijs.si (Zlatko Rek, IJS) Subject: Re: Porous Materials Date: 31 May 94 07:51:15 GMT PORFLOW - a model for fluid flow, heat and mass transport in multifluid, ======= multiphase, fractured or porous media Software package is a product of Analytic & Computational Reasearch Inc.: /3106 Inglewood Boulevard / West Los Angeles, CA 90066 / (213) 398-0956 / 06------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: 380 of sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics From: Zlatko.Rek@ijs.si (Zlatko Rek, IJS) Subject: Re: Porous Materials Date: 31 May 94 07:51:15 GMT PORFLOW - a model for fluid flow, heat and mass transport in multifluid, ======= multiphase, fractured or porous media Software package is a product of Analytic & Computational Reasearch Inc.: /3106 Inglewood Boulevard / West Los Angeles, CA 90066 / (213) 398-0956 / 07------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Article: From: plewa@sirius.astrouw.edu.pl (Tomasz Plewa) Subject: PPM 2D DE version Date: 10 Jun 94 PPM 2D DE version To get this code point your WWW/Mosaic client to: http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/~plewa/ftp/ppm.html 10-Jun-94----------------------------------------------------------------------- -- 11:14:27 Jun-10-DST MET _______________________________________________________________________________ Tomasz Plewa Internet: plewa@sirius.astrouw.edu.pl Warsaw University Observatory Bitnet: plewa@plwauw61.bitnet Al. From: plewa@sirius.astrouw.edu.pl (Tomasz Plewa) Newsgroups: sci.physics.computational.fluid-dynamics Subject: CFD codes list on the Web Date: 13 Jun 1994 20:31:32 GMT Message-ID: <2tifn4$if4@bilbo.nask.org.pl> "CFD codes list" is now available on the Web. Point your WWW client to: http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/~plewa/CFD/CFD_codes.html It seems to be in stable format with some additions, mainly from fields of astrophysics, radiation hydrodynamics, and aerodynamics. I will post this list to the newsgroup as well.
